Warding off more than vampires

Allium, the latin name for garlic means ‘hot’ or ‘burning’. And this certainly gives us a clue as to the array of uses that this herb provides.

Cultivated for thousands of years, its therapeutic use has been noted by the ancient Greek physicians; Hippocrates, Galen and Dioscorides. They touted its fiery nature as beneficial for intestinal, digestive, respiratory and energy complaints.

As the professor in the 1897 gothic horror Dracula knew, garlic has a distinct odour when crushed. The professor employed this to ward off the blood-sucking vampires. We now know that the pungent odour of garlic comes from the active component called allicin and we use it to effectively ward off more than just Transylvanian vampires.

The Nature’s Way® Garlicin® range provides standardised garlic to help keep the winter woes and the vampires at bay. Garlicin® CF will be your product of choice this season as it combines the almighty garlic with echinacea, vitamin C and zinc to alleviate the need for antibiotics and their side effects.
