BioResponse DIM® offers substantially higher absorption values than generic DIM
The issue of absorption and bioavailability of DIM is a real issue as DIM is highly insoluble. Michael A. Zeligs, M.D., the founder and CEO of BioResponse Nutrients LLC, is the originator of the only bioavailable microencapsulated DIM®. In 2000, BioResponse was awarded a patent for enhanced absorption of DIM, the only formulation that has received a US patent.
The microencapsulated formulation of DIM (BioResponse DIM®) contains a minimum of 25% of diindolylmethane. Our 75mg capsules contain a minimum of 18.5mg of bioavailable diindolylmethane. Generic DIM products, although they may contain a higher volume or percentage of diindolylmethane, these have been shown in studies to be very poorly absorbed.
This graph shows the absorption results of a comparison of absorbable BioResponse DIM® versus generic DIM. Note that this study compares 300mg of BioResponse DIM®, providing 75mg diindolylmethane, to a generic DIM capsule, providing 100mg diindolylmethane.
The BioResponse DIM® showed substantially higher absorption values than the generic DIM, even though 25% less diindolylmethane was delivered with this dose of BioResponse DIM®. Microencapsulated BioResponse DIM® displays much higher absorption, while the generic DIM shows little absorption at all.
Recently, a number of knock-off manufacturers are attempting to position products offering a higher milligram amount of DIM in formulations without addressing the need for an absorption-enhancing microencapsulated formulation. Simply increasing the milligrams of DIM does not result in any predictable absorption. Our formulation is the only DIM formulation shown to shift the estrogen metabolite ratio in clinical studies and provide other benefits in the suggested dose range.
All published clinical studies have only used the BioResponse patented DIM formulation. BioResponse DIM® is the only DIM clinically tested in humans and is also the only DIM in clinical trials sponsored by the American National Cancer Institute (Visit http://clinicaltrials.gov, keyword:”diindolylmethane”).
