Toilet training!
It seems that “toilet jokes” are a source of amusement no matter in what language they are told. However, regularity and healthy bowel motions are of grave importance and if things are not quite right at that end, the whole body will be affected.
Proper bowel function is an essential prerequisite for staying healthy. The “sewer system” must work properly or the body remains soaking in its own putrid waste. When the body’s sewer system backs up, every cell feels the result in the form of an encumbering accumulation of toxic waste.
According to Bernard Jensen the forefather of naturopathy, food was meant to pass through the body between 8-18 hours after its ingestion. This means that at least one well formed bowel motion needs to occur at least once daily.1
Constipation is so common in our Western society, for some the constipation-laxative cycle is just part of a normal daily routine. At the source of all these troubles is a mismanaged dietary intake low in fibre and water combined with a sedentary lifestyle.
Herbs can be of assistance when things are just “not flowing”. These can be gently effective without the side effects of chemical laxatives.
Nature’s Way® Triphala is a “bowel mobiliser” so gentle it can be used on a daily basis. It’s an internal purifier and can help clear congestion. A common folk saying in India says “No mother? Do not worry so long as you have Triphala.” That’s because Nature’s Way® Triphala can care for the internal organs of the body as a mother cares for her children.
The Nature’s Way® Daily Cleanse provides not one but six different sources of fibre together with liver supporting herbs to ensure regular toilet visits. With no artificial sweeteners, Daily Cleanse is a wholesome way to boost fibre intake.
If all has been done but to no avail, Nature’s Way® Naturalax 2 is the way to go – it can give that much needed extra push, the natural way.

The Colon (Large Bowel)
The colon is a large muscular tube, the last section of the digestive tract before elimination. When it is healthy, it is laden with good bacteria that help breaking down indigestible food particles and also support the immune system. Degenerative colon conditions are rapidly gaining in frequency and severity in our Western society. Conditions such as diverticulitis (inflamed bowel pockets) for example, are rarely seen in native tribes of Africa.
Keeping the large bowel healthy is a no brainer – eating high fibre foods and maintaining healthy bowel flora by taking high grade probiotics such as Nature’s Way® Primadophilus® Bifidus are good starting points. Simple, healthy choices might make all the difference when it comes to keeping the “sewage system” working better for longer.
